Full height turnstiles have been around for a long time and serve as a deterrent to unauthorized entry. Now, with the addition of Secure Overhead Detection System, the Full Height Turnstile Series, Models 100, 150 and 200, can effectively prevent unauthorized entry. Secure sensor can be installed on a new model being shipped from the factory, or retrofit onto an existing model previously installed. The Secure sensor can detect when two people attempt to enter the turnstile using one credential and lock the turnstile, preventing entry.ting entry.
Full Height Turnstile, like all other full height turnstiles, typically remains locked to all inbound traffic flow and unlocked to all outbound traffic flow, but can optionally remain locked in both directions. Unlocking occurs upon receiving a valid authorization input from an access control system (card reader or biometric device) or a remote push button override. While it does allow for two-way traffic, it only accommodates traffic flow in one direction at a time. Unauthorized entry and tailgating are prevented in the standard unit, but piggybacking cannot be prevented without additional sensors. Piggybacking occurs when two people try to enter at the same time and in the same compartment.
Factories, refineries, shipping distribution centers and other industrial applications don’t have quite the exposure to the public that many other organizations do, but security still has a primary responsibility to protect employees, visitors and assets, and to control access. The location of the security checkpoint, the throughput required and the level of supervision available will influence which type of physical security solution is recommended. At the perimeter or fence line, durable and long-lasting full height turnstiles are ideal for controlling access, even in the most harsh and rugged outdoor environments.
